From the off it was made very clear to the home side that Honiton had travelled down to Topsham RFC focused and keen to put the game to bed quickly and efficiently. Things started well as Jonny House collected, kicked, chased and dotted down in the opening minute. He crossed soon after as he touched down under the posts to take a brace in the first few minutes, he also converted his own try to take the score 12-0. River Exe never really got in the game and on the very rare occasion they gained territory the Lacemen swiftly dealt with any threat. Will Tyers and Charlie Wright both run in tries from their own half in quick succession. With a change of kicker Ben Kidson slotted the latter. The second quarter was again played with the Lacemens backs bossing the game where further tries were run in from Will Tyres and Harry Wright. Ben Kidsons boot found the sticks to take the game way out of reach. Not wanting to be out done Kyle Blackmoore closed the half with a rapid brace of tries. Ben Kidson took the extras to end the half 48-0
With the 2nd half started acting hooker Ben Logan wanted some of the action and danced his way through to claim his first try of the season (sorted BBL). Ben Kidson struck well and again hit his target. The game ended shortly after this as Will Tyers crossed to claim a well-earned hatrick taking the score 62-0.
Although the scoring was predominantly from the backs it was also the forwards doing their job well that created good platforms to work from. With some good individual and team performances Honiton looked a strong, disciplined and ruthless outfit.
