Lacelads travelled to Weymouth in hope of extending their winning streak. This is undiscovered territory for the boys, but Honiton were still keen to add to the momentum of their current winning ways.
The setting was perfect. It was a large and dry pitch and the weather was perfect for open and expansive rugby.
From the kick off, there was only going to be one winner. The forwards in the loose were outstanding and dominated much of the game, however struggled a little against a large Weymouth pack in the scrum. Our pick and go tactic together with our outstanding rucking was far too much for Weymouth to handle. This led to our first try, typically by our captain. Who followed up this try by some outstanding tackling which set the example for all the boys to follow. The backs supported the forwards well, especially Jai who's attacking play stood out.
At the half time whistle, the score was 22-0 to the Lacelads. The second half proved more challenging with Weymouth scoring 3 well executed trys. However most of these were missed tackles! Despite some great comeback play by Weymouth, Honiton were still the victor's, scoring a further 3 trys in the second half and leading to a score line of 41-19. It is also to note, the tackling contributions of our back 3 namely Lee, Billy G and Tobias. The latter showing the boys how to tap tackle.
Another great win for the Lacelads but we all need to show the referee more RESPECT!
