The first half got off to a slow start for Honiton as Dorchester broke through and scored two quick try’s. Some determined defending by Tom Burroughs and Zack Gambie stopped the flow from the home team. Finley Lowman escaped unharmed after he was studded by Dorchester number 10, he bravely carried on and proceeded to make ground and inspire his team mates. Zack Gambie then made a magnificent run after a perfect pass from Ben Briar to touch down in the corner, it was then backed up by Charlie Whites try in the other corner after escaping some fierce tackling. Dorchester struck back hard before the break and despite some committed tacking by Matthew and Luke Ducker the hosts added two more try’s.
The second half was much the same as Honiton went for a long period of keeping at the opposition away from their try line, Josh Woollacott and Josh Matthews ( on his first game back from a long injury out ) worked hard and defended well, however this couldn’t stop another two try’s going over. The last 10 minutes saw great efforts from Kaiden Chipping, Douglas Wigram, Matthew Thompson and Fred Ponting to not let anymore in.
Summing up at the end, coach Richard Woollacott, said ‘we became better and better as we went on’ and singled out Tom Burroughs and Josh Matthews for the determination and effort, and should be an example for the rest of the team to follow.
