Plymstock Oaks v Honiton
The Ton and their loyal followers made the trip down the A38 for what could be the most stern test so far this season.
Honiton kicked off and found themselves with a line out on the halfway line, the first throw unfortunately strayed wide and we had the first scrum of the game which was fairly even.
A penalty from the home side saw Honiton have an attacking line out in the Plymstock twenty two but unfortunately they were penalised for blocking in the line out.
The first ten minutes were even exchanged but the home side probably held the territorial advantage. A dropped ball deep in the saw the ball spun wide and the Plymstock left winger scored the first try of the game, the conversion was missed 5-0 after 15 minutes.
They got their second through the same player almost straight from the kick off when some slick handling saw him released in to space, 12-0.
The next kick off was better for the visitors as they regained possession and several phases later were awarded a penalty, Jake Johnson knocked it over, 12-3.
A rare scrum loss against the head added more problems for Honiton as the Plymstock winger got his hat trick 17-3.
The next try came from a kick out wide which was gathered by the right winger who ran in under the posts 24-3
The next try for the home side came again from their left winger for another converted try. The Oaks outside half was in complete control and combined some slick distribution with astute kicking leaving Honiton on the back foot.
Halftime 36-3
Midway through the second half the away side had something to cheer for when Charlie Wright got the first try for the away side, converted by Jake Johnson 55-10.
This proved to be the last score of the game and fifteen minutes later the final whistle went to end what had been a tough afternoon for the Ton against a very impressive Plymstock side who will take some beating this season.
