Crediton II 19 V 67 Honiton
A convincing win for Honiton who were reduced to thirteen men through injuries at the end.
Ton started strongly and were a try up after five minutes following a good break and touch down by Tom Plance. Five minutes later Dean Norman with three or four Crediton players hanging off him managed to force his way over the line. 0-14 both tries converted by Jake Johnson. Things started to go a bit Créditons way after this and showed some good attacking intent but basic errors were their downfall in this period of play. Eventually after 30mins Ton scored again with Charlie Wright making his presence felt and got on the score sheet. Straight after that Crediton finally got on the scoresheet with a well worked try then, Charlie Wright went over again, then Crediton scored again all in the space of about five minutes! Theeeen, the ref blew for halftime! HT 14-31 Ton lead.
The second half started with Honiton firing on all four, Nathan Hannay came on for Tom Plance who went off for what I think was a recurrence of last week’s injury and Crediton couldn’t cope. Ben Kidson scored after 43 minutes followed in quick succession by Pierre LeConte, Ben Spence and Charlie Wright, Jake Johnson added a conversion. The game calmed down for a few minutes after that although Honiton were still dominant and on 60mins Pierre forced his way over for his second try but unfortunately injured himself in the process and had to go off. To be replaced by Harri Stone.
5 minutes later Ben Kidson jinked his way over for another, converted by Jake Johnson. Crediton were still trying to make an impact. This may have been helped by a series of Honiton injuries. Harri Stone went off with a neck injury. A few minutes later there was a nasty collision between Josh Rice and Will Tyers which meant that they both had to leave the field. A few minutes after that Nathan Hannay had to leave with a nasty looking cut to his nose so that meant that Louie lane came on to boost the numbers up to thirteen.
Crediton kept trying and eventually through a good break by their centre got a converted try.
With ten minutes left and with only thirteen players Harry Wright broke through the centre to score the last of the tries.
An excellent performance by Honiton whose power and ability were too much for Crediton but well done to them for not giving up and helping to make it a great game to watch.
