Honiton travelled to Plymouth for this weeks league fixture on what was a very dry sunny day.
Honiton start brightly but the first 10 minutes remain scoreless with some good defence from the home side and a few unforced errors from the Ton.
The Ton break the deadlock after a good carry from Charlie Wright gives quick ball for Ben Spence to weave his way over the line. Jonny House converts. 0-7.
Honiton get their second after a messy lineout falls to Tom Irish who bundles over and it’s 0-14 after 25 minutes.
Then shortly after from a quick tap. Dean Norman powers over 0-21.
OPM seem to be losing it and get two cards in quick succession but strangely have a period in The Ton’s 22.
Honiton break out with the player advantage but two errors see turn over ball but more quick ball sees Wright power over and it’s converted 0-28.
Half time 28 up with errors and room for improvement.
Honiton start brightly and are just stopped short but it’s illegally so it’s another card but it’s a red for foul play. House takes it in and scores and it‘s another converted try 0-35.
Ton then score a really good try several hands and a good line from Cootie puts Ben Kidson in. 0-42.
Honiton break from deep with some slick hands and Kidson gets his second 0-49.
Some ill discipline sees Honiton give away several pens and OPM cross and convert. 7-49.
Normal service resumed a good Cootie break puts Finn Lowman in space and he off loads to the supporting Rhys Phillips who canters in 0-56.
With nothing to lose the home side puts a passage of play together and score again. 12-56.
Honiton wake up and another slick move sees Kidson get his Hatrick. 12-63.
Another quick tap sees the Ton sweep up field only to be stopped illegally and there’s another card. From the tap Spence gets his second and House makes in ten conversions out of ten. 12-70.
The game fizzles out but it’s a comfortable win. The home side will rue the cards and Honiton will need to cut out the errors but in what is usually a tricky venue they did a number on the home side so a good day at the office.
