Crediton
On a blustery day the Ton visited Crediton for the first time in many a year . Playing against the wind the home side got an early score and went 7-0 up.
Honiton gained some traction and the scrum and line outs were working well.
Then on Creditons own line. Honiton shoved them off the ball in a scrum and Josh Rice dotted it down Jonny House converts 7-7.
Then the home side infringed and got given a yellow card . From the penalty Ton kicked to the corner won the ball spun it and Pierre Leconte scored under the post. James Goodman converted 7-14.
Crediton bounce back and some good tight work sees them score a converted try to equal the score at 14 a price.
Honiton then lose Josh Rice to a shoulder injury .
Honiton regroup and good attacking lines see Honiton dominate and Dean Norman crosses. 14-19.
Back come Crediton and only tough defence keeps them at bay and half time comes to Honitons rescue with the Ton 19-14 ahead.
Second half … early exchanges are even Honiton then pressure and are held up over the line but the pressure is on Crediton then prosper from a series of penalties to pin the Ton back.
The game becomes frustrating for Honiton as the penalty count mounts . Two yellows for Honiton in quick succession causes problems. Honiton concede under the pressure 19-19.
Game on !
Honiton sneaked ahead with a well struck penalty 19-21…
Frustrations continue… in a very scrappy game but Honiton hang-in there and get the win.
Despite the dominance in the line and scrum Honiton make hard work of it.
But it’s another win as Honiton go into the Christmas break in the top half of the league.
