Sarries…
On a bright afternoon the Ton travelled to Exeter to play Sarries who are just above Honiton in the table…
Honiton started brightly and after a lot of early pressure Honiton kicked a penalty to go 0-3 up.
Jonny House then adds another penalty moments later 0-6.
Sarries make inroads and from just inside their half they kick a long range penalty, 3-6.
Honiton get back in the game and from a quick tap Honiton rumble over and one of the heavy guns scores (Madgie to be precise) but the kick is missed. 3-11.
After ten minutes of fairly even encounters… a patient build up sees Rhys Phillips released for the Tons second 3-16 the conversion is missed.
There then follows a bit of Sarries pressure but Honiton hold out. Half time comes 3-16 to the Ton.
Sarries start brightly and after two penalties they cross for their first try and they kick the conversion 10-16.
Game on…
The Ton bounce back with a good try from The French Bloke and House converts 10-23.
Things get lively with some heated exchanges.
There’s then a lot of pressure from the home side and Honiton are hanging on but there’s some good defence, unfortunately it cracks and Sarries score and convert 17-23.
Pressure is going all Sarries way and also the ref keeps penalising Honiton… Sarries eventually score again and this means they take the lead… 24-23.
The Honiton supporters are not happy with the on field decisions nevertheless play continues and yet another penalty sees Sarries kick for goal and they get it so it’s now 27-23 with moments left…
Honiton get a rare penalty and kick for the corner and having secured the ball and had a few rumbles, inexplicably the ref blows for a scrum for the home side and having won the scrum the ball gets kicked out for a Sarries win.
There was much annoyance form the large travelling army of Ton supporters.
The Final score 27-23.
