Honiton v Crediton II
A full clubhouse prior to kick off with a Christmas themed guest list ensuring a good atmosphere was guaranteed for the last home match of the season.
The weather was also ideal for the crowd but going to be a bit warm for the front five’s.
Honiton kicked off and were playing down the slope. Conceding an early penalty saw the away side win a line out in the Honiton twenty two. Although Crediton couldn’t get on the scoresheet with an organised Ton defence proving too strong.
More problems with discipline saw Honiton penalised for offside but poor kicking by the away side saw the pressure not come too much, in fact the first sustained possession from Honiton saw Charlie Wright finish off some good interplay to give the Ton a 5-0 lead.
This followed a minute later when Ben Kidson offloaded to the supporting Rob Price under the posts, converted by Johnny House 12-0.
The next Honiton try was scored by Josh Rice who was in support after Finn Lowman showed great pace to beat the cover defence 17-0.
Honiton were looking the better of the sides with ball in hand but were conceding too many penalties reducing the amount of possession they could have had.
A loose line out from Crediton saw Charlie Wright get his second try of the game when he broke through the line to score under the posts. 24-0
Dean Norman forced his way over from short range after a good break by Will Tyres. 29-0
From the kick the ball was moved wide right and Rhys Phillips fed a great pass to Finn Lowman who got over close to the posts.36-0
Rhys Phillips went one better from the next kick off scoring a fine solo try beating the home cover with good pace, 43-0.
Crediton got on the scoreboard with a fine try from their number eleven who latched on to a kick and ran half the length of the field, 43-5.
Normal service soon resumed as Ben Kidson weaved in and out to touch down under the posts, 50-5 at halftime.
From the kick off the ball was recycled, the line broken by Charlie Wright, Josh Rice getting the final pass 57-5.
Jonny House scored a try under the posts off a set tap penalty move, he converted his own try 64-5.
Some hard work from the Crediton pack saw them rewarded with a second try after the forwards recycled well 64-10.
The try sparked a surge of energy in the away team and only some solid defence kept the away from the Honiton try line.
Ben Kidson showed why he is scoring so many tries this year, he gathered a clearing kick and beat the scattered defenders to score under the posts off, 71-10.
Jake Johnson got the next try when he out paced his opposite number and took him over the try line wide right, conversion missed 76-10.
Josh Rice got the next from short range after a tap penalty move, converted 83-10.
The try procession continued with another from Dean Norman after some crisp handling and support play seeing him finish the move off with a try under the posts, 90-10.
With a few minutes to go the scoring continued with another try for Jake Johnson wide right after another break from Charlie Wright. Converted by Jonny House with what proved to be the final kick of the game giving a final score of 97-10.
