Tavy
After a fairly long layoff the Ton travelled up on to Dartmoor to play Tavistock. Surprisingly, considering the recent weather, the pitch was reasonably ok.
Even early exchanges but Ton get a pen, kicked by Jonny House, and go three up with 5mins on the board.
Everyone seem rusty but Ton get a score after several pick and goes, Rhys Phillips crosses and House converts 0-10.
Another good attack sees Phillips get over for his second try, again converted by House 0-17 with only 24 minutes on the clock!
10 minutes of even play then Ton are back on the score sheet as Ben Kidson crosses out wide. 0-22.
Tavy rally… but there’s no more score.
Half time 0-22.
Ton come out fighting and with some great strike running, especially from Charlie Wright, make inroads into the Tavy defence and Phillips get his hatrick on the back of it. House converts 0-29.
After a period of nothingness Ton break the deadlock with another try for Kidson after a great pass from House. 0-34.
Another attack sees the ball reach Finn Lowman’s hands who does well to score out wide. 0-39.
Tavistock find some traction and get on the scoresheet with a hard worked push over try. 5-39.
Honiton switch off a bit, receive a yellow card and concede again after some good work from the home boys. 10- 39.
Really though, it’s all over and the game fizzles out.
Nice win on the road with a few missing.
