Twelve U7s boys made the short journey to Chard for a round robin tournament. Split into two teams of six the boys played five games each against a mixture of sides from Devon and Somerset. Some of which we don’t normally get to face so it was a nice test to go up against some different teams.
Both teams represented themselves well and there was plenty of good running, passing and tagging to keep the massed crowd of enthusiastic parents entertained. In between games the boys were asked to recover and rest in preparation, but of course they ignored that and spent the downtime climbing trees, trying to catch a newt and fighting each other with sticks, as well as readying themselves for contact rugby by scrumming and tackling each other. Packed lunches were demolished early and the various food stalls done a roaring trade in an attempt to keep the teams fed. Although no scores are kept, and allowing for a hint of bias and creative accounting it is fair totals say we came out on top in pretty much all the games we played. The boys have really come on leaps and bounds since the start of the season.
