U11’s Match Report

U11’s played away to Withycombe today, in the glorious sunshine.
A number of mistakes by Honiton, poor tackling technique and a lack of support allowed Withycombe to dominate the first quarter with some really good rugby. They probably should have been further ahead than the 4 tries to zero, but for some rustiness by them. The second quarter was a complete turnaround with Honiton’s passes starting to stick and better support and defence. The final two quarters were more even but Honiton continued to edge the game with some fantastic runs by Charlie Brittlebank and Freddie Long. One of Charlie’s is a real contender for try of the season as he ran almost the entire length of the pitch and dodged or sidestepped most of opposition in the process. Player of the match went to Freddie Long, who continues to improve every week and did some great tackling and breakdown work in addition to his running skills with the ball. Runner up was shared by Bo Beeken, for improved decision making and Sam Hair for his breakdown work. Looking forward to getting our team work back up to speed in training this week
