Honiton welcome fellow promoted club, Penryn to Allhallows this weekend in another must win game for the Ton.
Our return to Western Counties has been a bruising one so far, with numerous injuries hampering the ability for any consistency to be seen in the team. That being said, it has been a good opportunity to blood in some youngsters at this level and everyone at the club can only be pleased with the way they have taken to senior rugby, especially considering we are currently playing at the highest level our club have achieved.
Back to this weekend, and the visitors currently sit 2 places above Honiton in the table with 2 additional wins so far this season. However, each of the the games the teams played last season were close knit affairs, with the Devon and Cornwall leg of last years RFU Senior Vase being one that will live long in the memory of many a Tonite. It went down to the wire on that day, with a fine team score finished by Will Tyers in the dying moments making the difference. With a good knowledge of each other, and plenty still to play for this weekend, Saturdays game promises to be equally entertaining!
Team news and Matt Bailey packs down at Hooker between Ben Logan and Will Goulden for the second week running. With Nick Guilbert now sidelined through a serious knee injury, the 2 Louis' make up the Second Row in Lane and Groves. Back Row has a mixture of youth and experience with Sam Olive and Ross Watts at 6 and 7 followed by Josh Rice at 8.
In the backs, ever present Phil Cooke starts at 9 with player-coach Alex Brooks his half back partner at 10. With Adam Thompson out, Jonny House moves up the line into 12 alongside last weekends Man of the Match, Oli Cave. Finally in the back line, Jake Smith and Angus Meadows retain their wing positions, supporting Kyle Blackmore who makes a welcome return to the starting lineup at Full Back.
A strong and exciting bench is on show this weekend as Callum Budge, Will Tyers and Sam Heathcote will look to come on and make an impact.
The weather looks to be holding up so we're hoping for a (relatively) dry day and plenty of entertaining rugby. We also want to say a big thank you to P R Driver Blacksmiths who are this weekends match sponsor. Everyone at HRFC looks forward to welcoming you to the club; we hope you enjoy your pre match entertainment and are treated to a fantastic match against our rivals from across the border.
