U10’s Match Report by Chris Baily

U10s

I am struggling for words (for once), as I endeavour to sum up the last game of the season, as Allhallows hosted Machen (Wales) on tour.

Highly charged and highly controversial, I think best describes the tie as the Welsh, which I have learnt in recent meetings, bring with them a very vocal and passionate support, as well as an aggressive style complete with knarly s#*%housery to boot.

The X's turned out in force with 15 raring to go and got out of the blocks, unusually, amazingly well going toe to toe with them from the first minute.

William and George PB started brilliantly, working together in the centre of the pitch, tackling, clearing out, and dominating the proceedings.

This set the tone for the game.

The whole squad today found a new level of muchiness and physicality at just the right time, to take the game to the Welsh.

Having made a nuisance of himself, William began to attract the Welsh's attention, and a few cheap shots started coming in from the Welsh.

As much as he needs to learn to bank it for an appropriate moment,

"Never poke a lion with a pointy stick,"

And when a small scrap broke out, much less of an incident than the pitch invasion from the Welsh fans and coaches deserved, Footy did an incredible job of calming things down and bringing things into line.

Order resumed, and Honiton continued to match up to the very strong Machen.

Earlier in the season, Honiton would have crumbled in this type of game. The determination that has gotten into this group is incredible.

Credit to George S for the mentality he has helped to create in training. It's really coming through.

Player of the match, for getting under the Welsh skin worse than suggesting the language was invented by a dad that was rubbish at scrabble, William. ????

George PB. Oh! What's occurring! More big hits than Tom Jones, that's what! And moment of the match for the best one. Awesome. ???⭐

Honourable mentions also for Pheobe, Joe, and Harry.

And our recent additions, Laurie, Oscar, Reggie, lovely stuff.

So this is it. The last match report.

I hope everyone involved in the team, Coaches, The Boss, parents, and players, have enjoyed the season as much as I have.

See you all at the presentation next Sunday.

23/24............ DONE!

Chris
